On this trip, our team will join Orchard: Africa on the ground and support local churches and programs on a mission trip in South Africa. Follow Jesus by spending time in a different culture and focusing on serving others. See God at work in Africa and make a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable families.

While the exact itinerary varies, a typical schedule includes:

 THURSDAY/FRIDAY: TRAVEL TO SOUTH AFRICA

Board a series of flights bound for South Africa. Depending on the route, it will take between 24 and 36 hours to travel from your home airport to South Africa. Orchard: Africa staff will be waiting to greet you at the airport and help you get started on your mission journey.

SATURDAY: WELCOME TO SOUTH AFRICA

Your team has officially arrived in South Africa, and your adventure has begun. The Orchard: Africa team will keep everyone moving as they adjust to a brand-new time zone. Your team will explore some sights, meet the Orchard: Africa team, and get acclimated to the mission house.

SUNDAY: WORSHIP AND ORIENTATION

Today, your team will get the opportunity to experience African worship by attending a church service in the community. This is an important start to experiencing how God is at work through the church in South Africa. The team will participate in an orientation to prepare for their week of service. They will learn about the culture, history and people of South Africa. This is an important day of discovery for mission team members.

MONDAY-FRIDAY: MISSION

Each day the team will start with breakfast and an opportunity for your team to have morning devotions. Half of the day will be devoted to leading one of Orchard: Africa’s four ministry courses. This will be held at a local church in the village or township you are serving. After lunch, the second half of the day will include a variety of serving opportunities, from serving a feeding center to making home visits with partner pastors or visiting Orchard: Africa preschools to spend time with the children and their teachers. The day will conclude with dinner and, again, an opportunity for the team to gather to discuss all that happened that day.

SATURDAY/SUNDAY: EXCURSIONS AND DEPARTURE

On Saturday teams serving in the Western Cape will visit some of the beautiful sites around Cape Town before catching a plane home later that evening. Then they will fly home from Johannesburg airport on Sunday evening.

This team will have three required training meetings for all participants. Your leader will provide the training schedule at your interview after you register.

Fundraising for the cost of this trip is encouraged. We will train you and provide resources to assist you with fundraising. Full funding for this trip will be due by May 10, 2025.
